Moving Along

Wednesday I had to go through that whole run around like mad between distant building and up and down many stories again and again to file paperwork thing. Long story short, I will be graduating with honors and I have a cap and gown to prove it. Now I just need to show the front desk at the dorm so I don't get over charged. Thursday I saw the recruiter again after class to drop off some papers. J. came with but like I thought it didn't turn into anything. I saw the recruiter again this morning to fill out another form. I'll be going to Minneapolis on wednesday to take the test and physical and officially join the airforce. Things are really moving along quickly, even my sister had to wait a few months before she took the test when she joined. I think my curse might be contagious because my recruiter couldn't get the computer to recognize the correct code on my file even though it had been entered correctly, and then the other guy in the office started having trouble with his files. It should be ok though. I'm now home for the weekend. I think K. is home this weekend too so maybe I'll be able to do something fun. I turned in that Cahokia paper so I won't have any homework.

Return of the Curse

My day started off well but my curse eventually caught up with me. Apparently some one misstyped the code on my degree so the computer didn't realize I was graduating and forgot to send me the e-mails with all the forms to fill out and submit like everyone else got. On top of that one of my history classes wasn't being recognized properly either. I found this all out after I couldn't print the report for my meeting with my advisor. So I had to walk from my advisor's office on the second floor of the faculty building a mile clear accross to the regustrar's office to get the report and have them explain how the computer forgot me and I wasn't on the graduation list, then I had to get papers signed by my advisor so I had to walk all the way back to her office, then I had to see about study abroad sashes and that office is on the third floor of the building I just came from so I had to walk all the way over there again but they had just closed. So tomorrow I will have to find an ATM and get fifty bucks to pay the cashier the graduation fee, get the department head over at the other building to sign my form so I can show it as proof of graduation to the front desk at my dorm seven blocks off campus so I don't get charged for extra nights, then I have to take it back to the registrar's office, then I have to go to the third floor and see about study abroad stuff. And all this after the recruiter told me I could stand to gain a few pounds. Yeah, like that's gonna happen this week. At least I'll be graduating with high honors. Now I just need to remember where I put that tassel when I go home to get it this weekened.

Anyway, I went with J. out to the Hinkley casino to meet her folks so she could pick up some books she forgot at home. I played one machine and lost. After that we both got a slice of pizza and some free soda. Then we came back. It was kind of nice cuz we talked the whole car ride but boring cuz neither one of us is into gambling or spending twenty bucks a piece on the buffet. Lucky I didn't hav any home work due tomorrow because I just got back and it's already ten o'clock so I wouldn't have been able to finish it anyway. Only other thing of note is that J. was interested in coming with me next time I see my recruiter so she can ask about benefits and stuff if she decides to join in the future. I gave her a number to call but I don't know if she was being serious or not. She asked all these weird questions about if they monitor your e-mails and bug your phone and censor anything you write and stuff. Like the government was controlling free speech in the military. Talk about paranoid. I told her this was America and we didn't live behind the iron curtain despite attempts by the current administration to socialize/communize our country. So then she wanted to talk about something else. We'll see. I told dad to e-mail me some paper work stuff so I might see the recruiter again this week. If I do I'll ask if she still wants to go.

Feels like Friday

I got a lot done today. I finished two out of three final papers and went to talk to that airforce recruiter guy. I decided I want to join after all so he gave me some papers to fill out and bring back. My most promising job application yet. Well, that doesn't sound like much now but it seemed like it was a lot more when I was actually getting it done. Only a few weeks left of school before graduation. I really should finish that Cahokia paper. I'll work on it first thing after class tomorrow (if I don't forget).

Procrastination

I was going to do my homework today but I wound up watching tv instead. Nothing is due till Tuesday anyway and all I have to do is revise my papers with the notes I already have on the old ones. I do have to finish that paper on Cahokia for my native history class but that one technically isn't due till the last day of class. At least I have my first page and all my sources for that one. And I do have that robin hood thing but all I have to do for that one is read a book and write a summary. Basically I just need to sit down and write, but I'm just too busy procrastinating to do it yet. Maybe tomorrow before my recruiter meeting. I'll have four hours to kill so I might as well save it till then.

Pink Lace

So I decided to do this entry chronologicaly backwards. Today I went a little nuts and bought a pink lacy dress. It was on sale if that helps. Before that I thought I lost one of my rings but it turns out I just forgot to put it on. I applied for a job at blue cross. I was supposed to meet with my advisor but when I showed up during our meeting time she wasn't there. I sent an e-mail to reschedule (did I spell that right?). Yesterday I had to go out and get a copy of the first Iron Man movie. I have to watch it again before I go to see the second one when it comes out right? It was as cool as I remembered, he totally kicked some evil Taliban terrorist but. Before that I called the airforce recruiter at the mall again. He actually answered and I have an appointment to talk to him on Monday. I can't remember what I did on wednesday. I checked out some library books on Robin Hood for a history presentation. Aside from that boring. I did finally get some sleep but I tired all day. I think bill oreily should showcase my neighbors as pinheads on his show.

Pea Brains

Yesterday was boring. I got hardly any sleep last night. Today was really nice out. One of my proffessors even decided to have class outside. A stupid ant crawled on my book though. J. and I went to see that new Kick Ass movie. I thought it was gonna be just goofy and weird but it was actually really good and had an excellent plot and characters. We had stopped at walmart before and I got a great deal on this black pleather jacket for three dollars. Talk about saving money at walmart. Was exhausted when I got back and I would love to hit the hay early, unfortunatley the animals next door are squacking like scarred chickens and a constipated parrot. Have you ever tried to make a chicken shut up? Asking nicely never works with pea brains. But seriously, don't those people ever sleep?

Deep Fried Mars Bars

Yesterday I hung out with dad again. We got bird seed at L and M and dropped that couch off at L.'s new apartment. After that we went fishing. It was too windy for a boat so we went in the truck and took some windy dirt road and walked a few hundred feet through the woods to fish from shore. It was nice. Good weather, mossy rocks and rotted log seating. After several hours we only caught one fish though. I watched the new doctor who when we got back. I'm not sure I like the new guy, he's not very good looking. And they changed the tardis inside too. I guess it isn't soo bad considering how goofy the original series was sometimes but still.

I had that fish for breakfast before I left. Delicous. Mom washed my car before I left. I stopped at grabdma's and said hi. There was a sapsucker in the rowan tree and she wanted grandpa to shoot it but it flew away just before I left. I had a coupon so I got a couple books at the bookstore, not that I needed anymore books. I still have over fifty unread books on my shelf at home. It could be worse. I could be addicted to something bad for me like drugs or deep fried mars bars (a Scottish specialty I wish I'd tried when I had the chance). When all is said and done I bet my book addiction is only slightly cheaper (though it does take up more space). And it's just as hard a habbit to kick too. What will I do? Go to bed and sleep on it I suppose. I do have a class in the morning.

Monkey

Spent the day hanging out with dad. First we went to the post office. Then the drug store. Then into the rail siding. There were already trucks down there working when dad was only at the state Capitol to get funding to fix the siding from whatever board just last night. Then we went to the license beuro. Then we went out to eat at Jue's with ma and P. We listened to the twins game on the way home and now we're watching the rest of it on the new tv. Twins monkey is glad to get out of the bottom of the toy chest.

Bacteria?!?

I stopped at the mall on the way home and found a great deal on these boots that are just perfect for the ren fest. Only ten bucks a pair. Sweet! After I got home I opened this package from my sister with an awesome cabella's sweatshirt. Things were great until I went to brush my teeth before bed. Our hot water reeks, which may or may not be bacteria, which may or may not kill me if I accidentaly drink some. I think I'll probably be fine but dad just doesn't know. He says I should only drink filtered water. But I already brushed my teeth with tap water! Way to be vague and unhelpful. Is it safe to take a shower? I don't know but I'm gonna take one in the morning anyway. At least I'll die clean, sort of (that is if bacteria doesn't count). Still, nobody who reads this freak out or anything. Most of it's just melodramatic scarcasm. About the killer bacteria!

Anti-Delicious?

Classes have been boring this week. I did have to go and do some research for my final Sherlock Holmes paper yesterday. I was surprised how hard it was to find anything relevant to my topic. Also, my legs were all sore from jumping rope so I decided to give it a break till the weekened. I was watching Glenn Beck on Fox the other day and he had some guys on talking about social security and how privitization would help solve the problem with them running out of money. Finally, it took them long enough. I remember four, no five, years ago when I wrote a paper in highschool on how that would fix the problem. It was a really good paper, lots of facts and figures and research, well written, good spelling. Course, my teacher gave me a c-. Said it was because everytime I used Social Security in a sentence I capitalized it (just like all my sources had) and it shouldn't have been. She marked it off every single time. Once for each S. There were five pages and I used Social Security maybe five times on a page which works out to fifty points docked for inproper capitalization. Apparently my sources weren't written by English majors. At least that's what she said was her official reason for the bad grade (every other paper I wrote for that class before and after received an A by the way). Really though, it was because she didn't agree with my solution and thought higher taxes was a much more practical way to fix it. Yeah, right.

Anyway, glad someone else finally came up with the same solution, even if it was four years later. Also on the bright side, I don't have class on Friday which means I can take off early. Dad said he'd take me fishing and promised if we caught anything we could eat it. The grill at school has quit serving fish. Dad said maybe they were anti-catholic but they also quit serving  chili cheese dogs so maybe they're just anti-delicious. I leave it up to someone else to decide. The grilled cheese in the cafeteria today was soggy, if that helps the decision any.

100

I thought I'd walk to campus early and get some breakfast but when I got there I realized that since they got the new union the grill quit serving breakfast. Lame. So I went to class instead. We've moved on to learning about Hawaii. I wonder why we never covered Hawaii in my other native American history class? Meanwhile, made it to a hundred jumps. Yay. Also finished revising my paper for my criticism class. I decided my new thing I want instead of one of those mini laptops is an iPad. I found out it's Microsoft word compatible and does powerpoints. Plus a lot of other uber cool stuff. If it comes with an idiot college kid silencer it'll be the best invention since the wheel or fire. They already invented silencers for guns, why not for a slightly larger yet more braindead piece of mishapen metal? (The metal's because college kids today are 75% metal jewlery piercings, though I'm sure at least a few also have tooth fillings and plates in their heads.)

Jump Rope

Today I went to walmart and got some soda and snacks. Then I went to target and got a jump rope. You would be surprised at how hard it was to find one. Took me half an hour in the exercise and toy sections and they only had one brand and just one left in stock anyway. I guess a rope with handles just isn't as popular as it used to be. Rubber ball seems to be doing pretty good though. I watched Highlander when I got back. I couldn't stop thinking about Craig ferguson's joke about how Sean connery did not play the Scotsman and tried to do a Spanish/egyptian accent. Really? Like nobody could tell which one was the real Scotsman. After that I cleaned my floor so I could jump rope. I made it to sixty seven. Or was it fifty seven? Either way I still need to work my way to a hundred.

Idiots

I finally went out and bought that book Arguing With Idiots on Friday. I'm already on pg, 85 and it's awesome. Now if only it offered advice on what to say to idiotic college kids who insist on acting like kindergardners on crack who never shut the heck up despite numerous quiet hour posters and sleep deprevation health warnings, not to mention complaints and the fact that normal people are trying to sleep from midnight to two am. So much for college turning kids into well educated responsible intelligent adults. If I didn't know it I'd say it was doing the exact opposite.

Anyway, J and I split a pizza last night and today we went to petco and barnes and noble. I paid for dinner at a Mexican place. J owes me, said she pay for a movie as soon as anything good comes out. I had a headache when I got back to my room so I tried going to bed early but the jerks on my floor started making a huge racket, hence my previous rant. I bet their folks are only paying for college to get them as far away and out of their hair as possible. They should have sprung for study abroad in Indonesia. My hair could use a break too. Last night was the sixth time I had to knock on my neighbor's door and tell them it was two am. Idiots. Only a month and a half to go. Can't wait. Unemployment sound pretty good right now, or at least it sounds quieter.

Gene Kelly Rocks!

Tuesday and Wednesday I didn't do anything worth blogging about. Well, I did get an e-mail saying I was going to graduate with honors. And I did get an A on my last paper. I watched some pirate movies on TCM last night. I forget what the first one was but after that I watched Captain Blood with Erol Flynn and The Pirate with Gene Kelly. Gene Kelly Rocks by the way. Totally my favorite old time movie actor ever. Not that a lot of kids my age even know who he is (something my cousin totally understands). I think Gene Kelly movies should be required watching for everybody.

Enough about that though, I finally wrote down the poem I've been thinking about since Easter. Check it out over at White Fox: Silver Crow and on my page at fifteen minutes of fiction.

Easter

Saturday I did three loads of laundry. I also kind of cleaned my room in the sense that the floor is empty but my dressers and bookshelves are overflowing with junk. I went with my dad to walmart and we got a new t.v. for the upstairs living room. My mom had a wii to set up downstairs but it was broken so she brought it back and exchanged it for a new one. The only game she got for it was the sports resort one though. Too bad everything else was like fifty or sixty bucks or I would have bought something else myself. I watched a few episodes of Andromeda online. I really wish I could get it on dvd but all those websites I checked were scams. I guess I'll have to settle for slow steaming and chinese subtitles. I dyed my hair a lighter color as well. It was supposed to be ash blonde but I think I didn't wait long enough to wash it out and it came out more strawberry.

Easter at grandma's was pretty fun. Auntie J. and them couldn't make it but most everyone else was there. Grandma was worried about stuff as usual and the horrible cheif dog was locked in the kennel to keep him from attacking people. Everyone ate a peep. Cousin M. said they were good in gravy so I tried it and she was totally right. Everyone else thought that was weird. My mom said they were good frozen but my grandma said they were better roasted on a fork over the gas stove. So my Uncle N decided to roast a peep only it caught fire and he put his hand under it to catch the drip and of course he got burned. Silly N. When I left to go back to school he still hadn't eaten it, said he was just gonna look at it for a while. I hope that poor peep didn't die for nothing.

Today I went to class and lunch then came back to my room and watched a few more episodes of Andromeda online. I forgot just how campy and fun that show was. It's really addicting when you can watch episodes right in a row. Too bad amazon wants hundreds of dollars to get it on dvd or I would totally be ordering it. Well, I do have some homework to be doing. If I start now I might even finish it early.

Rainy Day

I came home for Easter break on Thursday. Just in time to catch my seven o'clock shows. My dad liked the airplane books I brought him from the library free shelf. I got a late birthday present in the mail from auntie J and uncle L. I wish I had a sweater to go with such a nice hat and brooch. Today I went with my folks into town. We had a lovely lunch at the sygon cafe. Then we stopped someplace to look at a lawnmower. After that we went to Duluth to sam's club and got some groceries. It was pouring down rain and thunderstorming on the way home. I found leaving the store funny as all the men folk rushed out to fetch cars while all the women and children waited at the door. It wasn't exactly chilvarous but it just seemed sorta neat. Back home I did some more reading and caught the new season premier of Merlin. I'm glad it got picked up by scifi cuz it was cancelled or quit showing on BBC at least a few years ago, plus my bookmark to watch it online doesn't work anymore. I better get to bed before midnight. I have a lot of laundry to do tomorrow.
