My New Favorite Series

I finished reading the secret garden this morning. It was better than the movie, one of them anyway. It was 64 degrees out today. It almost felt like spring was creeping right out of the book. I also started on the first book in the lost fleet series by Jack Campbell. It was so good I couldn't put it down and I finished the whole book by eight thirty. I suppose I should have been doing homework or something else school related but I just don't care. Sometimes a good scifi military adventure is more important than frying your brain trying to write a five page research paper that isn't even due for two weeks. It helps if you already have an introduction and five history books on hand with relevant passages bookmarked. Still, I suppose I have to lay aside my new favorite series for now and do my reading for critism tomorrow. Lucky I'll have Friday and Easter weekened off for fun stuff.

Stupid Speeches

I managed to finish my reading on time for my English criticism class and my other English class was cancelled. I was a little annoyed with Obama today because his silly speech with the French president about new government regulations on banks, which is a bad idea to begin with, used up more than half of Glenn beck's time and I missed the beginning of his show. On top of that I went to barnes and noble with J to get those books beck was talking about and they said they had them but really they didn't. Either they're selling like hotcakes or b&n is trying to trick me. I wound up getting some scifi books instead. Back at my room I've been reading the secret garden that my grandma gave me. So far it's wonderful. I can't beleive I never read it before. Too many movie adaptations I guess. Also, 50 below e-mailed me back asking for writing samples. I sure hope they like what I sent. Starting pay listed on the website was 30-35 bucks an hour. My mom is pessimistic but I won't let that get me down.

So I was watching CMT...

So I was watching cmt this morning and I was inspired to try my hand at writing a country song. It's called Everybody Needs Somebody Sometimes and as far as I know I didn't plagiarize anyone. You can check it out over at White Fox: Silver Crow or on my page at fifteen minutes of fiction.

I Got A Call Back

Yesterday was a total day off. J. and I went out to eat, went to target, and saw that new How to Train Your Dragon movie. It was awesome! Totally going to get it when it comes out on DVD. Also, twilight has gone too far. They have a series of Ken and Barbie dolls after them. And a manga. It's enough to make me wanna gag. After I got back to my room I watched Lawrence of Arabia. He really started acting funny near the end there didn't he.

Today I watched some mythbusters on t.v. I went to the cafeteria and got some pizza to go for lunch. I was in the middle of eating it when I got back and my phone rang. Northwest airlines was calling me for a phone interview for a job I applied for over spring break. How cool is that? I was even complimented on my extremely well organized resume. It was highly appreciated. I sure do hope things work out. I applied for two jobs at 50 below today as well. It would be really nice to know I could start paying off these student loans right off the bat.

I Thought It Was Wednesday

I thought for sure today was Wednesday for some reason. I was even starting to worry about the homework I was putting off so I could watch the last two parts of the Dune miniseries. Seriously, I thought I was going to have to actually stay up late and finish it tonight, which would have been boring. As it is I might just do another reading anyway just to get it done early. I still need a topic for my final native American history paper. I do have four history books on hand to use as sources. Perhaps my one follower could come up with an idea. I was thinking of doing it on the mound builders. Hannity is coming to the cities on 4/7. I'd rather see Beck but I don't know when he's coming or if. (That would be a hint for my follower to look into ticket availability.)

Page 538

Yesterday got off to a late start. My printer ran out of yellow ink so it wouldn't let me print my paper, in black ink. The first computer I tried in the computer lab was frozen and the second was disconnected from the printer. So I stopped at the library and that printer was out of paper. By the time I got someone to refill it and printed my paper I was ten minutes late for class. I could have not even gone since it was a group presentation day and a few groups ran long so I didn't even have to go anyway. On the bright side, as a wise lady told me, I was probably ten minutes away from getting hit by a car or slipping and falling or something and running late probably saved my life. My English class was a blast because the guest speakers were awesome. And L.G. (or is it L.J.), was so friendly. And inspirational. All I can say is that particular two hours totally made up for that whole printers hate me debacle.

Moving on, my first nations history teacher finally got on board with the rest of the class and realized our textbook was a total bore and not very interesting so we no longer have to read it. Yay I guess. If only he had realized this before everyone in class had to shell out thirty bucks for the stupid thing. At least it counts as a reference for that paper I'm supposed to write now.

I could have been doing homework this morning after class but I sort of just sat around in my room watching t.v. Glenn Beck was pretty good today. He said something about the scripture being a weapon in our arsenal and other cool things that got me thinking. So I picked up my bible and randomly opened it and came across Psalm 83 which I thought was surprisingly relevant. The Bible is in the public domain so I could put down what it said right here but I'm a lazy person and I don't want to retype the whole thing. Just take it from me, relevant and you should look it up yourself. Psalm 83. Page 538 if you've got one of those pocket sized gideon bibles those guys are always giving out in front of schools. Meantime I've got some homework to do.

Still Here

Nobody I know died today so I guess the world hasn't come to an end just yet. Let's just hope people realize their mistakes and fix them soon. Meanwhile I watched tv and did some homework. Ate some spaghetti from a can. Same old same old.

The Beginning of the End

So I was all set to go to bed and I thought I'd check the news and that stupid bloody illegal deem it passed thing actually passed. My god! They can't do that. The constitution requires that they take down the names of all the yeas and nays in a straight vote on any bill. If all you did was vote on things you wanted to change and said you were voting on whether or not you would vote, you still haven't actually voted on the actual bill. That means no actual yeas or nays and no names to take down and that means it's unconstitutional and illegal. Hello! Anybody home? I guess nobody bothered to read the constitution before going into politics. Idiots. Evil idiots. Not to mention all the add ons no one knows a lot about, like new student loan laws. It won't even take effect till 2014, Obama won't even be president anymore (unless he deems himself eligible for an extra term). And the huge tax hikes to pay for it. And the shortage of doctors. And having to pay fines for not having insurance. Like any of that saves anybody any money. Like I said, idiots. Evil idiots. (Let's see if this angry political post gets any reaction, nobody but ma reads this blog anyway.)

That One Guy...

I had to go back to school today. I didn't want to. I did get some research done for one of my history projects. I went to wal mart for milk and soda pop. I was bored when I got back to my room but I found this totally awesome Celtic thunder concert on PBS. I love it, specially the one guy who tapdanced.

Also my mom called to let me know that maunta P. got a hold of the real North Country gal to come and talk to my one class on Tuesday. How cool is that? And I found out my Monday class is cancelled. I needed a day for homework anyway. I'll finish watching Celtic thunder and then I guess it will be bedtime. I wish I knew the name of that one guy. I shoulda paid more attention during the intro.

Someday

On Friday I went to v-town and met with L.G. and baby K. and we went to lunch at micky d's which, while messy, was slightly more fun and amusing than hanging with some of those bemidji people. I came home and did some reading and watched Reniasance Man on tv. Maunta P came over and went with me and my mom to dinner at the cresent. Ma even got me to try a piƱa colada. It was ok but nothing special. I was curious as to why they put the women's restroom right next to the bar when everyone knows it should me the men's. I downloaded a doodle fly game for my phone and was up late playing it.

Today I finished reading two more books, the sixth and seventh Ranger's Apprentice. I did a recount of all the books on my shelf that I haven't read yet and was a little purturbed to find that despite finishing four this week I still have sixty-nine to go. I guess now that I stopped buying them for myself I should stop letting other people buy them for me. Someday I'll retire and then I'll have free time to finally catch up on my reading. Someday...

Bemidji Trip

Tuesday I sat around and did nothing. Wednesday I drove out to Bemidji to hang with K. R. for St. Patrick's Day. Jack took me the scenic route down and I almost ran out of gas. I did come accross this tree on the side of the road somewhere near Effie (population 91) that made the whole thing worth it. In fact, it was the highlight of my trip.

I found out bemidji is pretty lame. And K hangs out with some pretty vulgar people. She said they were actually behaving rather tame compared to normal. If forwarding dirty pictures to each other and cracking sick sex jokes is tame I don't want to see normal. Plus they all swore and a lot of them got drunk (but not me and K) after we went to the world's shortest parade, one pub to the next accross the street. At least the soda pop was free and we got free facepaint and I had an excuse to wear bright green. But other than that it was kinda lame. At least I got to visit k and she treated me to dinner and breakfast. We got together with some other people to watch the boondock saints two, I guess that teacher in k's class was right media violence, or in this case foul language, leads people to doing, or in this case saying, the same things themselves ( by the by most relevant doodles I ever drew in a class).

Just because their behavior was a lot less vulgar than usual doesn't mean that it wasn't vulgar as it was. It still isn't right to say such things regardless of anything else you may have said and it only makes it worse to justify it. I suppose this means I should quit watching movies where they swear before they start to corrupt me too. I wonder if that cute lost puppy movie I watched this afternoon when I got home balances it out? I appreciate this much now, J may be a bit silly headed but at least she isn't vulgar or gross.

Sorry about the rant. Vulgarity is just so annoying sometimes. They sucked all the fun out of the movie. To make up for it here's something else to ponder: camoflauge Easter eggs. Is it just me or does anyone else think that might be cheating?

Wolf Tracks

After dropping off my car for an oil change this morning I went with my dad to the shack just to see. It was another nice sunny day. I didn't even have to wear a coat. The road in was covered in big wolf tracks. One was bigger than my hand.

After that we rebuilt chucky cuz he fell apart over the winter.

My dad dropped me back at the car place after to pick up my car. The check engine light was for a thermostat. The part would cost 18 dollars but after an hour of labor to install the bill would be 110 dollars. What a rip! I stopped at the store and picked up some pizza for tomorrow and some soda pop. I finally had some time to sit and finish reading that book. It was the traffic warden's hat. She cursed the city. He/they gave her back her hat. I helped my dad make dinner, pork roast and beans and mashed potatoes and gravy. Yum. I'm reading agatha Christie now, the body in the library. I wonder if the butler did it?

More Books

Yesterday I went with my dad to v-town. The road at the rail siding was feet deep in goopy mud. Instead of pay for a carwash he drove around looking for puddles to drive through because the lake was still iced over. I'd say he was being cheap but after that he paid for lunch at the new Mexican place in the mall and bought me a book at the bookstore. I also bought myself the illiad and the odyssey. When we got home I took a nice three hour nap, watched some t.v. and went to bed.

Today I went with my folks to Duluth. We had lunch at grandma's, looked rappalas at gander mountain, sat in some comfy chairs at sneiderman's, and everyone got a couple books at barnes and noble. Not that I really needed more books to not read but as long as someone else was paying. It was a lovely warm spring day out too. Made me wish it was dry enough and that I had enough friends to play baseball. At least I had a few hours on the couch to read some more of that book. The shoes belonged to Mo. Mo stole the hat. I also put together an application for a press release writer job. I hope I remember to mail it tomorrow.

It Should Be Fun

The job fair on wednesday was a bust. The most promising stand there was the navy guy who gave me his card. I might give him a call back, for six figures they'd certainly be the best paying gig I could get. On Thursday I passed my criticism test but I won't know by how much till she grades it. J. came by to watch a movie and walked right into the wall. I guess that helps explain some of her silly comments.

I went home early since class was cancelled Friday and stopped to shop for rubber boots because it's been so wet out lately and I was tired of soaking wet pants and shoes. I wasn't willing to spend fifty bucks for fashion colors so I went to L&M and got some cheap 11 dollar boys boots in black. I've been reading a new book this morning called The Midnight Mayor. So far it's very interesting. I'm dying to know what's going on with the shoes.

K. R. came by to watch a movie. She had an extra ticket to the John Micheal Montgomery concert at the bay so we'll be going to that tonight. It should be fun.

One Down...

I finished writing my paper for my criticism class. I think I did pretty well on it despite the fact that the whole class is silly. No matter, as long as I put down what they want to read and get my A what do I care? I finally finished reading Wizards First Rule, the book that the Legend of the Seeker t.v. show is based on. It only took me more than a year to finish it. It still had the receipt in it from when my mom bought it for me at Walden's before they moved out to the mall and it was replaced by a nurse's scrubs store. The date on it was 1/01/09. Is that longer than I've had this blog? I can't remember but it sure seems like it was forever, back when the old student center still had chili cheese dogs at the grill. Boy do I miss the chili cheese dogs, and the new sandwiches every week. Now they serves is stale pizza What a life. Anyway, I finished the book, that's what matters. Now I just have 40 or 50 more to go.

I'm Late, I'm Late...

So, this entry is really late. Not much happened during the week. I got my resume looked at by an advisor so it looks proffesional now. I went to class, watched t.v. and did some reading. I went home for the weekened. I got to hang out with K.R. and a couple of her Bemidji friends. We went and saw the new Alice in Wonderland movie. It was good but not great. I finally got my other ear pierced on Saturday. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. I also bought too many books at barnes and noble. I think I have an addiction. I have way too many books and I haven't even read fifty of them. Hello spring break plan. Back at school again. I checked my mail and found I got a nice mug with candy for my birthday. The card said from dad so thanks. I have a paper to finish writing so I better go.

Better Day

My mom came down on Sunday and we got some groceries and new shoes. My class was canceled on Monday so I got to watch more t.v. Today I was feeling a lot better, my sore throat went away but now I have a runny nose. I better hurry up and catch it then, ha ha (I know, corniest old joke ever). I got a ton of free books from the library, if it wasn't for most of them being part of twenty volume sets I would have snatched the whole book shelf, as it was I only managed to carry back ten. Meanwhile, I finally figured out what I'm going to do my paper on for my criticism class. I still think that class is a little silly though. I took English so I wouldn't have to deal with psycologists, communists, and feminists. Turns out that's all we've been studying. Geez. I wrote a poem on the way back from school today, it was 36 degrees out, all the snow was melting, the sun was out, etc. Just a really nice day. You can check it out over at White Fox: Silver Crow or on my page at fifteen minutes of fiction.
