Funky Mushroom

Went with ma to town yesterday. She insisted we go suit shopping so I would have something decent to wear for my interview on Thursday. She wound up getting me a nice black suit and an extra pair of grey slacks. We also got poster making stuff. We stopped at grandma's on the way home to sat hi as well. I slept in today. Went for a long walk with the beagle. I saw a funky mushroom.

Did some reading when I got back. Dad said we could have a fire so I invited K over and we roasted marshmallows. It was really fun. When it got dark we even tried to catch fireflies for old time's sake. Only got one though. We let the fire burn down then K had to go home and I had to go to bed.

Oldies Music

I applied for a couple more jobs yesterday. Went into town intending to get poster stuff but got distracted at the book store. Stopped by L.'s place for a few minutes before heading home. It rained pretty good and even hailed a little bit. I stayed up till four am. Took a nap. Went for a walk with Lucy beagle around noon. Then I went to visit grandma and bring that bow back to grandpa. Came home. I decided I didn't like the nature faker undertone of that soldier son trilogy I was reading so I put those three books in my paperback exchange bag. I went with ma and her friends to the grass roots concert at the bay. I thought that singer guy was hilarious despite his age. The music was ok but I could hardly understand the words. Ma lost fifteen bucks at the casino and I lost the dollar she gave me plus the 35 cents worth of vouchers I found on the floor. We went back to maunta's lake cabin. I don't know if we're staying the night but I brought a bag this time just in case.

Lost

I guess we lost yesterday but that's ok. So long as we win when me an dad go to the game. I got a lot of reading done today. Ma had me look at a couple job openings. I called about the one but the gal was busy and never called back. I'll try again tomorrow. I'll also probably run into town to get stuff for my bert sign. I never did go for that walk. That gal mailed my custom bag today. I can't wait till it gets here. I still have that surprise for maunta silver crow. If only I could remember where I put it...

Summer Cleaning

Made it home yesterday in time to catch the last few minutes of Glenn beck. J drove and we met my folks halfway. We also stopped at this antique store, I looked at a few books. They had one called Bill: the Galactic Hero on the Planet o Zombie Vampires (or was it vampire zombies?). Too bad it wasn't cheeper or I might have bought it just for the heck of it. Meanwhile, my ma decide to do s little belated spring cleaning this morning. She threw out like eight garbage bags of stuff. Surprisingly some of it looked like it was in better shape than some of the junk in that antique store, I guess it just wasn't old enough. I did a little reading and watched some tv. The twins are ahead, hope they win. I'm going to bed so I'll ask dad tomorrow if we won.

One Down, Fifty Five to Go

The con was even more boring than yesterday. Most everyone had already left anyway and everything interesting was already sold out. On the bright side it ended at four o'clock and we left early. We got back to the house at four but J. wanted to take a nap for a few hours. I finished reading another book, By The Sword. It was pretty good but the ending was a little too deux ex machina for my taste (I hope I spelled that right). J.'s ma ordered pizza for dinner, it was delicious. J made me go for a walk with her after. It hardly felt like we went anywhere really. I have a feeling that walk to school had been longer. I actually kind of miss school, if only because I had to do all that walking anytime I wanted food and the food was all you can eat and pretty good. At least there was variety and purpose. I don't particularly relish the thought of finding a summer job though. I don't want to work at a restaurant and most of the resorts have finished hiring. I wonder if the bank is still hiring. I could probably do that without going nuts. I'll be going home tomorrow so I'll wait and worry about it then.

At Least the Movie Was Fun

J.'s ma got us mcdonald's for breakfast before we left for the con today. It was pretty much the exact same stuff as yesterday only the cool stuff sold out. I wore my robin hood hat and that fox tail. I got several compliments on the hat. I stayed at the table for most of the time. J went and got us macaroni take out from the noodles restaurant accross the street for lunch and the con people sent free sandwiches to all the artist's alley people. I finally broke down and bought one of those wonderboy comics. I just had to know why that strange man was wearing a toaster on his head. The artist threw in a free sketch of whatever I wanted so I asked for a White fox musketer fighting a silver crow cardinal's man. aside from the orange beak it turned out awesome! When I get home I'm totally going to make the fox my new avatar. Meanwhile I'll post a picture over on White fox: silver crow. I also commissioned this lady who does purses and pouches to do one with a White fox on it. I also got a surprise for maunta/silver crow. And aside from food I refuse to spend any more money. Not that there's anything else worth getting anyway. When we got back to the house we went and saw toy story three with J.'s mom. It was good. We just got back and it's time for bed. I really want to go home. I don't think I'll ever pay fifty bucks to go to a con again. Ren fests are way more interesting and cheaper and the costumes are better and the people are for the most part older, you don't get as many unsupervised tweens and kids. Enough whining, going to bed now.

Faux Fox

My folks drove me to superior for my recruiter meeting. Turns out I probably won't be leaving till October. Now dad's really gonna get on me about finding a job. We met up with J and her mom at the casino and I went with them. It started pouring rain again but we beat the tornado warning to her house. J had a lot more orange fur than she let on. I started in on a faux fox tail to go with my robin hood hat. I'll probably finish it tomorrow. I unpacked my bag to show J that hat and already I can't seem to fit it all back in there. At least a lack of luggage space will discourage me from buying junk at the show. We had toast for a snack and now it's bed time.

Decisions, Decisions

Finished reading swordpoint today. It was pretty good although the ending was a little anticlimatic. Went to Hibbing with K. We went to the fabric store. I found this great blue and silver stuff on sale that would make a great tunic. After that we went to grandma's for dinner. K. talked me into trying jagger and dr. pepper. It was ok. I read some jokes out of this really old joke book. Wanna here a good one? The cat swallowed a ball of yarn and all her kittens were born with sweaters. Ha! I finished packing for my weekened with J., all except my toothbrush anyway. I can't quite decide what book to read next. I was going to go with murder at the cat show but now I'm thinking Ivanhoe. Not to mention pride and prejudice, the illiad, sharpe's tiger, the lost fleet: relentless, renegade's magic, inkheart, the count of monte cristo, corsair, soulless, and interview with the vampire to name only a few. With fifty five books to choose from it's a wonder I don't go mad. And that's after I gave twenty away and finished reading eight. I guess I'll decide in the morning.

Stupid Rain

Went to town with dad today and we had Chinese for lunch. my fortune said redecorating was in my future. And I thought we were finished with the kitchen. I finally finished that book brisinger. It was pretty good at the end. I started a new book, swordpoint. So far it's good.

It rained again today so I didn't get that walk in. I did do some situps and pushups. I thought about taking up sprinting, that way I could steal more bases if I ever find enough people for a baseball game. The twins won. Only a week and a half left till me and dad get to go to the game. I hope it doesn't rain.

Oh Susana!

Went to my cousin's grad party With my mom yesterday. We stopped at the grociery store and got macaroni. I had it for supper and it was delicious. Went to see that prince of Persia movie with L.G. It was really good. Plus we had free tickets. When I got home maunta was here watching a movie with ma. Ma got out her harmonica to play a belated happy birthday which led to me getting out my bongos and small drum and me and maunta and ma having an impromtu jam session. The only song we were any decent at was oh susana. Today I finally got around to doing some reading. I should be able to finish that book by tomorrow. Dad got back from his fishing trip. It finally quit raining today (it's been going nonstop all week). Maybe I'll go for a walk tomorrow.

Robin Hood Hat

Went to visit grandma and grandpa yesterday. Grandpa let me borrow his little wood bow for the ren fest in twig. Isn't he the best? Maunta came over to our house and mom and me and her watched tv till late. This morning my mom vinished hemming my green cloak (thank you, I love you lots) and we went to the fair in twig. I decided not to bring that bow in since I didn't see anyone else with one. I got a robin hood sword and my mom got me a robin hood hat. We got to see a play and a music show. I got to play the cowbell onstage. I learned how to shimmy from a belly dance instructor. All in all a great time. Not to mention we ha excellent timing. It rained when we left the house, stopped when we got there, and started again right after we left. We had pizza at maunta's for supper. Maunta took some really nice pictures of me in costume. It's too bad K was working cuz she would have loved it. Now that we're home mom is trying to finish hanging that other set of curtains in the kitchen. If I go to bed now I may get out of having to help (but I still love you if you're Reading this).

I Wish I Had Baby Foxes

I averted a minor disaster yesterday with the railcars. Not that it would have mattered anyway since we're so far ahead there are no deadlines. Stopped at target on the way home and hot a brown fedora hat. Mom decided to hang out with maunta so I was home alone. I guess it's a shame I don't have many friends or I could have thrown a party. Went with mom to town today, checked the railcars, stopped at the mall and talked her into getting me a twins shirt and cap to wear to the game in a few weeks. The twins almost won tonight. Yeah I know, almost doesn't count. We grabbed a bite to eat at the village inn and I visited with maunta at her house while ma went to a board meeting of some kind. I walked some of her kitties outside. She showed me some home movies of baby foxes playing she took at the lake. They were so cute. had to sit through a long boring description of the board meeting when ma got back. Got DQ on the way home. Finally got a hold of K. Apparently she's so busy the only time to talk to her is ten pm. Hopefully I can get that cloak from her tomorrow. I got this great looking tunic at herberger's today that would go great with it. I didn't get any reading done today. I'll try again tomorrow.

Poppycock

Did even more driving around town with dad yesterday. He wants to leave me in charge of the business while he's on his trip. Just when I was finally starting to like the idea of being unemployed and having free time to read books. Helped him pack today. It rained and rained and for all I know might still be raining. We went out to eat at some place on vermillion. They had good pizza. The twins won. I can't wait till we get to go to the game for real. Also, prince poppycock was hilarious. If you weren't watching and have no clue then too bad. You really missed out.

Ramblings From A Fed Up Author

Went with dad to town yesterday. Had lunch at the downtown mexican place, which was much better than the mall place. Finished reading another book. As long as I don't buy any more books I might have a chance to finish the ones I got. Did some Reading this morning, got through 178 pages of brisinger. Went with dad in his boat. We tried trolling in Maunta's bay but didn't catch anything. He dropped me off at the dock and I've been hanging out with my mom and maunta for the past fee hours. Mom says she doesn't want me to put stuff about her on the Internet but complains I don't write nice stuff about her on my blog like I do for my maunta. There's just no pleasing some people. We got onto the topic of news and I whined about how everyone is being so mean to Israel as well as other stuff. Maunta says I should start my own political blog. I could call it ramblings from a fed up author. We'll see. I don't know if I have the determination or time to start a third blog. I don't know if me and mom are staying overnight so I better conserve my batteries.

"Scene of the Slime" Ha!

I saw the funniest headline on fox news. There was this picture of Obama and over it the words "scene of the slime". It was a reference to the oil spill but their choice of picture seemed much more politically appropriate. I didn't get that library job. I got all dressed up and drove all the way down for an interview, they asked me one question: was I going back to school next fall in person or online? I was going in person. Well, I would not be getting the job but I was welcome to stay for a two hour interview if I wanted the experience. Seriously? What, am I slow or something? Good grief, like I'd want to work for someone who knowingly wasted my time like that. Whatever. I came home, did some more reading, watched some tv, and now I'm going to bed. Maybe I'll have better luck finding a job tomorrow. Hey, I could always apply at fox to write headlines.

Where Have All the Bananas Gone?

Went into town today and ran into L.G. Unexpected but nice. Hung out in the used book store. Then we went to the mall and hung out in the other book store. I did wind up getting a book. And my coupon was expired so I did have to pay full price for it. However, I did get a call back for an interview tomorrow with the library so maybe that makes up for it? Course not, that only works if I actually get the job. Grabbed some Arby's to go on the way home. Did some more reading. Even though I got rid of some books I keep getting more so overall I still wind up with more to read and less time to do it in. Do librarians have lots of time to read? Hopefully I'll get the chance to find out. Burn Notice started again tonight. Just when you think they can't possibly come up with an excuse to keep the title they come up with something else to make it work. My leg feels a lot better today, but then I didn't go for any walks or mow any lawns. I should ask mom to pick up some bananas tomorrow. I've really been craving them lately.

Lots of Pictures

Went for a walk with the beagle yesterday. Saw some flowers.

Got rained on a little on the way back. Did some reading. Went with dad to town an had supper with P. at the Chinese place. Saw this funny looking sign in a shop window:

Went for another walk this morning. I think I may have pulled a muscle or something because my leg really hurts. I had to mow P.'s lawn at the lake and he only had a push mower. Now my leg is really sore. My dad cooked steaks on the grill for dinner and mom made fried sweet potatoes. We ate outside on the deck. It was nice. Also, a big rig and trailer bottomed out in our yard. It was a big to do for the construction guys to unstick it.

Having had a busy day, I think I'll got to bed early.
