Memorial Day

Yesterday my bro moved into his new apartment. I went with mom to town and we dropped off a few things for him. Turns out they got a place in the building where they had that murder a while back. I told my mom that him and his friend were like Jughead without Archie. All they care about is food and games. In fact, those were the only two things they had already unpacked and set up. Whatever, at least my folks got another spare room to do whatever they want with. Today I went with mom to drop off that table and chairs we had borrowed at grandma's. I took a nap when we got back. It's Memorial day  so I found time to write a poem. It can be read over at White Fox: Silver Crow or on my page at fifteen minutes of fiction. Also look for my poem Iambic Seasons as well.

Party

I think I went to town on Thursday and got a DVD and a book but I can't quite remember for some reason. Friday I helped clean for my bro's party, went with dad to pick up some last minute groceries. I wound up going to Hibbing to pick up my glassess at walmart. I don't know why they seemed so great when I was picking them out before, but by the time I actually had them and wore them home I felt like I was fifty wearing big thick dad glassess. I didn't notice so much today so maybe they just needed some getting used to. The party went well. Almost everyone who was invited showed up. We had too much food. I even got a couple of cards for my college graduation. Me and mom made a real spiffy sign. The beagle was vey nice and well behaved. Said high to every one, never barked or nothing. The twins won and one of my uncles said he couldget us tickets to a game. Overall I'd say things were a smashing success. Not to mention exhausting. I think I'll sleep till noon tomorrow.

Job Hunting

Had a job interview yesterday. I think it went ok. Stopped at the mall on my way home and got this jumper on sale. Got home and took the dog for a walk. Sat around for several hours reading. Finished another book. Took the dog for another walk. Went to bed. It was so warm and sticky out I was miserable. The twins game got delayed on account of rain. Everyone wanted an outdoor stadium and that's what they got. Today I went to town with dad and got a haircut. Went home and I wrote cover letters for a couple of library jobs I saw in the paper and dropped off aplications at the respective libraries. Also dropped off four books at the paperback book exchange. They didn't have any Bernard cornwall, said he's very popular and whenever they get him in he doesn't even stay long enough for a cup of coffee. I wound up getting something else instead. Came home. Tried one of those tostinos pizzas my bro got from work. Worst pizza I've ever eaten. And that includes the time my bro forgot to take the cardboard off the bottom and baked it into the crust. Did some sit ups and push ups. Drank an Irn Bru. I was going to go to bed but my bro has his buddies over and they're playing video games all night. If only the tv wasn't mounted on the other side of my bedroom wall. As it is I think I might have to crash in the computer office (it used to be my sister's room so at least it has a bed in it). Still, I can't wait till he moves into that apartment he's rented.

Weird Dog

Went with dad to town today. He had to check rail cars. We had a nice lunch at this little Chinese place. Stopped to say hi to grandma and grandpa on the way home. Grandpa's dog cheif was doing some strange stuff with a rake. I thought it would be a good opportunity to test this new camcorder app I got for my phone. Let's see if I can post video... Guess not. Maybe if I try from a computer later.

Sticky

Yesterday I went with the folks to walmart. I was able to convince them to get me new glasses that came with the sunglass clip already custom fit. They won't be ready for a few days yet though. Today I helped my ma clean the house, sort of. I folded some blankets downstairs and moved some CDs. I did get more stuff put away in my room. It was so sticky and warm today I spent most of it downstairs where it was cool. What's the point of having an air conditioner when you don't use it on hot days? Anyway, I got in a meager amount of exercise. Me and my bro went to see that new robin hood movie. It was pretty good, but it was just the beginning bit so it ended as soon as he was outlawed. I kind of hope they do a sequel because I really want to see how the rest of this version plays out. I think I'll go to bed at a normal time tonight.

Close Encounters of the Bird Kind

Even though I didn't go anywhere I had a pretty busy Friday. I was actually surprised it was Friday. Without regular class schedules I lost track of the days, haven't even been watching that much tv either. Anyway, I cleaned the kitchen and did a couple loads of laundry this morning. Finished reading that book. Me and dad were watching the news and cracked up when they said a suicide bomber was working on a bomb in his garage and accidentaly blew himself up. Talk about poetic justice. Got a lot of stuff put away in my room. Went outside to swing for a while and had a close encounter of the bird kind when this hummingbird snuck up to within an inch from my face and just stared at me while it hovered like a helicopter. Did some more laundry. I'm actually all caught up on laundry, just a few pants to fold and put away. I made tacos for supper for me and dad. They were delicious. Then I had to clean the kitchen again. I watched crocodile Dundee in LA on tv. My brother had his friends over and the last one to use the bathroom left in a hurry and the toilet overflowed all over the floor. My bro and I had to mop it up after they left. I know my floor could have used a good mopping but not like that. I took a long shower and now I'm going to bed.

Slogan

I did another load of laundry today. None of its folded but at least half of it is clean. I met mom at Maunta's house so we could ride down to duluth together. I took Matchka kitty for a walk in the yard.

My meeting in superior went well. He said since I passed the language test it's almost garunteed that's what I'll get. We stopped at sam's club on the way back and had dinner at the china star. I came up with this great slogan for whoever decides to run for president next. "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." Sure, you can spend all kinds of money you don't have and raise taxes and pass goofy laws, but that doesn't mean you should. Just because a person can go tearing down the highway at a hundred miles an hour without a seatbelt doesn't mean they should. So, if any of you politicos out there decide to use that for your slogan you totally owe me. We're on the way home now but we won't get back till late.

Are There Leprechauns in Minnesota?

I went for a walk with Lucy this morning and got some Reading done. I made a nice lunch of soup and sandwiches for me and dad. Cleaned the kitchen, not that it did any good as he just messed it all up again later. Went into town with dad to pick up my car. I met up with L. G. at kmart and we went over to target. I had to pick up a few things, peanut butter, pickles, chicken for dinner, etc. We stopped for ice cream at DQ. When I got home mom cooked chicken and tatoes and beans for supper. Went for a walk with mom after. Darby O'gill and the Little People was on the hallmark channel. I'd forgotten what a great movie that was. Funny I don't remember seeing the end before tonight though. I have a lot of laundry to do tomorrow plus I need to be in superior by five. Bedtime then.

It's Always Something

Did two loads of laundry today and barely made a dent in my pile of dirty clothes. I had an eye exam today as well. I really do need new glasses. I just hope dad doesn't make me get ugly ones. I found out my car needs even more work so the cost just went up to three thousand bucks. It's always something isn't it. Barbeque chicken wings for dinner. Good but really messy. Went for a walk with mom after. We wound up at the cemetary looking at the really old stones. You could barely see some of them. I watched this funky vampire movie on tv when we got back. I guess I better go to bed while it's still technically night.

Dead Fish

Yesterday I had to water all my dad's trees, and there were twenty or thirty of them and he was using the hose for something else so I had to use a water can and walk back and forth a dozen times. At least I got my arm strength exercises in. I made my grandma a video of my graduations and left it with her on my way to town. Since it took my so long to water the trees the paper back book exchange was closed by the time I got there so I gave those old books to L.G. and told her if she made any money selling them at her garage sale to split it with me. I got some arby's to go and came home. I looked at some books in the book store but I didn't buy any. Went for a walk with mom. I need new walking shoes, mine have a hole in them. I found a cute little red belly snake. Maunta came by to show us the pictures she took of my graduation. She takes really nice pictures. I had a sauna before bed. Cleanest I've felt in ages.

Today I had to go with dad and bring my car to the shop. Turns out the front end is shot and it'll cost 23 hundred bucks to fix. Dad says he'll go 500 but I have to pay the rest. Better not mess up that interview then. We had lunch at that Mexican place in the mall. I like the one down town better. We went fishing this afternoon. It was a nice day out, not windy, warm but not too hot, nice. We spent a good fee hours out there till sunset but we only caugt three fish. One was too little but we each caught a keeper walter. They put a new cell phone tower up so I was able to check on the twins with my baseball app on my phone. It gave a play by play and everything. We came across this huge Muskie floating dead in the water. It was bigger than the beagle.


We got home too late to fry fish or barbeque those chicken wings so we had pizza for supper instead. We decided to save our fish for breakfast. It's only Monday and already my week has been busy. I can't imagine how busy I'll be when I have to work. At least I cab get a good quiet night's sleep now.

Done With School

I got half my stuff loaded in my car on Friday an the rest packed up in boxes waiting. I took a swing by the mall and finally found this cute outback looking dress in my size that I couldn't find before. I spent like four hours standing around starring at books at barnes an noble. I finally decided I had to make a decision when my feet started to hurt. I was going to get this really nice looking bible with a grey leather cover but it was twenty two bucks an I only had twenty on me. So I got this other book instead.




So far it's not too bad, though I've only read the first chapter. I decided to save up some cash and get the bible next time I go to Duluth, though knowin my luck that was the last copy and they will be all sold out.

I graduated suma cum laude today. Lots of hurry up and wait and my feet hurt from standing in line so long. My folks came and helped pack the last of my stuff. I had to vacune but the only vacum they had left looked like something out of a ghost busters movie, a cross between a ghost sucker and a jet pack. I had to wear it on my back. Maunta P. came down to take pictures. She coulda graduated too but she never finished her paper from last semester. It's okay though, when she does graduate I'll get to go and take her picture. She got me three cases of Irn Bru for graduation! She's officially the bestest coolest awesomest person on the planet! Maybe even the universe. It hasn't come in the mail yet but the anticipation is killing me.

I spent the evening at home talking to my bro and his buddy M. I tried to pawn some books off on him but the only one he was interested in was the one I didn't want to give away, so I borrowed it to him instead. I finally found out what happened to my old robin hood movie. M. borrowed it without asking. I told him since I already bought a new copy he owed me a different movie of equal value. I hope he gets me something good. I have a job interview on the 25th. Maybe I can get ma to buy me a new outfit. I can dream anyway. But not if I don't go to bed.

Sheet Music is Hard to Find

So far this week I finished one in class test and I'm almost done with my online history test, they posted the questions but not the notes. I wish I had kept that popcorn I sent home with my folks. I found sheet music for over the hills an far away, took me like an hour to find it though and then I had to figure out Which version was the right one. Totally worth it though. I spent another hour online today looking for wild blue yonder sheet music. That one was even harder to find than over the hills. It's got a couple of funny noted I don't know how to play as well. Maybe if I practice long enough I can have it memorized in time for basic. I have another online test tomorrow, hopefully it will be easy.

Marathon

I found this website for a public tv station out of Washington DC that had all sorts of the Sharpe movies online so I was up late two nights in a row marathoning them. For the most part they were pretty good but (spoiler) I was very dissapointed in his choice of second wife, sure she seemed all innocent when he married her but she turned out to be nothing but an evil gold digger. Saturday I went to red lobster with the folks. They had good pasta. Then I went back to my room and marathoned more sharpe movies online. Today I slept in till noon. I hung out in my room, read a chapter in a book, played my tinwhistle. Then I went to see that new Iron Man movie. J. was still down in the cities so I went by myself. It was epic. I would totally see it again. I got some dinner to go at the cafeteria on my way back, watched some tv, and I think I might actually go to bed at a decent hour. Tomorrow will be a strictly study day (though I should probably spend some time cleaning my room).

I Win

Wednesday and thursday were miserable, I had to go all the way down to the cities and the guy driving the shuttle wouldn't let us eat in the car. I had to take all sorts of tests and I was up from 4 am to ten pm straight and it was horrible in the meantime, I passed everything with excellent scores now I just have to wait for them to call me back.

In the union today that have a reggae steel drum band playing and a stand giving away free cotton candy. The pizza is better than usual and it is snowing outside so I totally win. I told J it was going to snow again. I have a few last minute papers to turn in and then all I have to worry about is the finals. My one class doesn't even gave a final, two of my other ones are online and the third is multiple choice and matching. Maybe I'll go to a movie tonight, de-stress and what not.

Anybody Got a Pop Tart?

Monday I stopped at the mall on the way back to school. I got a new copy of robin hood and I also discovered this great movie series called sharpe's. It's like horatio hornblower only he's a rifleman instead of a navy officer. He's also raised up from the ranks so he gets in a lot more fights and he's rougher an tougher and, in my opinion, better looking so he gets more girls even when he doesn't want them. Also, it has a great theme song- over the hills and far away. I am so putting the rest of the series on my wish list for all hollidays and birthdays. I was up late last night watching the ones I got.

The other half of my robin good presentation wasn't in class today. The senior year critiscizm paper presentation was exhausting. I didn't even know what my own paper was on I was so bored. Went out to eat for lunch with dad. Then I had the academic awards to go to. I had no idea I was graduating suma cum laud. That was nice I guess. After J. and I went to a dinner party at my one professor's house. She made lots of lasagna and salad. It was good. I just felt like collapsing when I finally got back to my room. I have to walk to the recruiter's office in the morning and I just remembered I sent my microwave and food box home with dad and forgot to save something for breakfast. If I get up early enough maybe I'll swing by the cafeteria.

Cursed Again

Me and dad made dinner Friday night, deep fried fish and sweet potato chips and fried mushrooms. Delicious. Saturday I did three loads of laundry. I went with mom and P. to my cousin's play in eveleth, the miracle worker. It was pretty good. I don't want to say anything to get in trouble but I didn't like that director guy. Anyway, stopped at P.'s after to visit her kitty kats. Slept in this morning. Decided after consultation with ma that I would skip my class tomorrow so I could have more time to hang out with friends today. I went to town with K. We got a bite to eat at grandma's, stopped at target, and watched the new Sherlock holmes movie at my house when we got back. After she went home I decided to alphabetize my movie collection and foun out that my copy of Robin Hood prince of theives has gone missing. Nobody thinks they borrowed it but I spent three hours cleaning my room and the living room and looking everywhere for it and it is definitely not here. Unless it's some how hiding in my room at school and I forgot I'm afraid I might have to buy a new copy of it. It's kind of old already so I might even have to order it online if I can't find it in a store. And here I thought I'd finally ditched that lousy curse and it comes right back again to haunt me. I was planning on watching that movie tonight and bringing it to school as a prop for my robin hood history presentation. Now I'm so worried I lost it it's making me sick. Stupid curse.
